ASP’s Empire Red Vintage Hutch

If you’ve ever shy’d away from painting furniture in bold, red colors … here’s a sweet alternative to muting that bright red color.

EMPIRE RED DISTRESSED MID-CENTURY CHINA CABINET

We felt a bit daring with this beauty because of it’s bold, solid bones we took it a step further!  While the red hues are rather very bold and at times intimidating, we painted this piece in ASP’s Empire Red paint but we then applied ASP’s dark wax to tone down the bright color and we love how she turned.  This bold piece with big, solid legs and frame was the perfect specimen to try out the bright paint on.  We then etched the glass and applied diamonds on all four corners that mimic the diamond shaped wood embellisments that we applied to the upper portion medallions.  We painted those diamond embellishments in a light, muted green to complement the distressing throughout the piece and the embellishments and etching all seem to complement one another.
