Victorian Nite Stand Turned Chic Side Table

Talk about adorable!  Not only is this nite stand/side table dainty & pretty it has to be a rare gem!  I’ve never seen another like it!  We found her a bit tired & glum and we think her makeover is absolutely stunning!

We’re figuring considering the petiteness of the piece, the petite rounded drawer, the fluted, tapered legs and the ornate moulding on this piece that she probably dates back to the Victorian era dating to early 1900’s or late 1800’s.  With that being said, we didn’t want to drastically change her appearance and functionality so we approached this makeover with a neutral and simplistic transformation.

Luckily, since the wood was tired most of the luster had faded away over the years.  The piece was so faded, we didn’t even have to sand, strip or degloss it.  We managed to clean her up and dust her off and off for a makeover she went!   We decided to paint her in a pretty, creamy chalk-style paint and we chose to brighten her up with one of my favoritist color, Cheesecake by Country Chic Paint.  I love using Country Chic Paint because the finishing process isn’t as arduous as some of the other chalk-style paints that are out there.  While we could have gone with Country Chic’s Tough Coat to seal the piece, we chose to seal with their Natural Wax.  We distressed the piece and then we added a rhinestone embellishment on it’s bottom & top moulding to make her pop.  We finished it with a fleur de lis glass knob and walla!  She is a true stunner now!  For details on how to apply the rhinestone embellishment, feel free to comment below and we’ll be happy to share.
